1. Overview Plate heat exchanger is compact and efficient heat exchange equipment, using the metal corrugated sheet as the major heat transfer agent. The fluid flows through the inner-flow mesh panel which is made up by the corrugated plates. Because after the plates assembly, they form a special channel which can generate turbulence under low Reynolds number, and the turbulence can easily destroy the fluid boundary layer,that greatly reduces thermal resistance and efficiently enhances the heat transfer, moreover, with no scale. According to the channel width of the hot fluid flow and the cold fluid flow, the channel can be divided into two types:BR and BRB. On the ground of the flow rate, temperature range condition and process condition, the plate heat exchanger can be assembled into single pass or multi pass type. When the media's temperature range is 1.8 times bigger than the LMTD (log mean temperature difference), it should apply the multi pass. In the other hand, when the flow rate's fitness value is 0.3 0.5m/s or the flow rate is too slow, it should apply the dual flow or multi flow. Plate heat exchanger has great deal of merits such as:High heat transmission coefficient, compact structure, small footprint, great operation flexibility, wide application scope, small heat resistance loss, convenient installation and utilization, low cost investment and so on. Therefore, it is widely used in petrochemical, thermal power, metallurgy, textile, food, pharmaceutical, HVAC heating, nuclear industry, shipbuilding, marine development and other fields 2. Structure, principle and characteristic Plate heat exchanger is made up by heat transfer plate, sealing gasket, compression plate, up and down guide bar, pillar, grip bolts and other major parts. The four corners of the Heat transfer plate open fourcorner holes and inset with sealing gaskets respectively. So when the equipment clamps, the sealing gasket will connect each heat transfer plates according to the heat transfer process. Thecorner holes connect with each other to form a maze of media channel where the heat transfer media flow reverse in the two adjacent channels, by enhancing heat radiation, heat convection and heat transfer to realize adequate heat exchange. Thanks to the heat plate's special structure, after installation, it can arouse strong turbulence under comparable low flow rate. That can accelerate the destruction of fluid borders and strengthen the heat transfer process. Generally speaking, the plate heat exchanger requires a working pressure of 1.0MPa 1.6MPa, and lower than 160 °C working temperature. When it is used to heat or condensate the water vapor, a tubular attemperator will be equipped additionally which can not only cool and protect the gasket of the heat exchanger, but also can promote the steam capacity. The heat transfer is usually made of stainless steel, and the sealing gasket is made of nitrile rubber, EPDM rubber, or nitrile food rubber. However, other material also can be selected according to different needs of the users. 3.Design and Selection The plate heat exchanger produced by our company strictly follows the rule listed in GB16409-1996 "plate heat exchanger," to design, manufacture and test. 4.
